The US Virgin Islands – the perfect cocktail of stunning long beaches, equally beautiful scenery to explore underwater, boutique shopping and tranquil National Parks, all topped off with Caribbean sunshine for you to enjoy on a private yacht charter.
This is an example of an eight day yacht charter itinerary for the U.S Virgin Islands. Itineraries are created individually for every client based around personal preferences and how you want to spend your time onboard.
Join the yacht in Yacht Haven Grande Marina in Charlotte Amalie. Enjoy a delicious lunch prepared by your chef and get ready to hit the ground running. Shoppers should go to Havensight Mall for the great selection of duty free shops, whilst others may prefer to explore your surroundings. Take an historical tour of the town, visiting Fort Christian to learn of the Danish heritage of the island, before walking through Emancipation Gardens. Visit the art gallery based in Pissaro’s childhood home and pick up an early souvenir – though maybe not an original Pissaro. Cruise round to beautiful Magens Bay where you can enjoy the watertoys. Enjoy your first dinner on board before going to downtown Charlotte Amalie to explore the nightlife.
Caneel and Maho Bay, St John
New Day, New Island
Admire the scenery as the superyacht cruises to the island of St John. Two thirds of the island are designated National Park areas and are covered with trails for hikers to explore as well as gorgeous beaches and bays. The marine life is just as well preserved as the land, making for excellent snorkelling opportunities. The yacht will make a stop in Caneel Bay to sample the snorkelling and to have lunch at anchor. After lunch the cruise continues round to Maho Bay. Snorkel with the sea turtles or go kayaking to discover this beautiful bay up close. The yacht's crew will set up a cocktail bar on the beach before you enjoy a delicious dinner aboard as you share your days’ adventures.
Waterlemon Bay, St John
After a refreshing morning swim, enjoy your breakfast as the yacht sails round to the beautifully protected anchorage of Water Lemon Bay. The small cay just off the beach is teeming with marine life for you to record on your Go Pros as you snorkel amongst it. Stop and get a feel for old colonial times at the ruins of the Annaberg Sugar Plantation as you follow the coastline along the Leinster hiking trail, taking in the wonderful views all around you en route or do some beachcombing along the shoreline. Watch the sun sink down with your favourite cocktail in hand or take a sunset cruise on the paddleboards. Relax in the jacuzzi with your after dinner drinks as the perfect end to the day.
Coral Bay, St John
Land and Sea
Today your charter yacht will relocate once again to the next stop at Coral Bay, once a busy harbour in the height of the sugar trade. Have your cameras ready as the boat cruises into this bay with its many coves and creeks providing some great shots for your Instagram account. Paddleboard around these beautiful spots or do your adventuring ashore finding another hiking trail across the Virgin Islands National Park. Enjoy a new experience at Lime Out – the floating cocktail and Taco bar in the middle of Coral Bay. Have a great lunch and a couple of cocktails before heading to Salt Pond beach to doze the afternoon away. Transport will be available to take you across the island to Cruz Bay for the evening.
Christiansted, St Croix
A morning cruise brings you to the island of St Croix. Enjoy a leisurely breakfast and be ready with your cameras to snap the dolphins playing alongside the yacht. Divers are in for a treat with The Wall in Cane Bay - a drop off dive starting gently before falling off to thousands of feet. Snorkellers are also spoilt with the largest barrier reef system in the Caribbean surrounding the island. Golfers will be happy to practise their swing at the par 72 Carambola Golf Course and shoppers will find everything from clothing to craft jewellery and art galleries in the town of Christiansted. The Bombay Club, set in an historic townhouse, will be the perfect spot for dinner.
Fredericksted, St Croix
A Day of Two Halves
Make an early start to visit Buck Island Reef National Park by tender. Snorkelers can take a guided underwater trail and hikers can follow a marked route across the island through frangipani trees and cacti. Divers will enjoy discovering the Elkhorn coral stacks in the surrounding reef. Otherwise stay on St Croix and explore the island. Rum lovers should go to the Cruzan rum distillery before going on to the historic town of Fredericksted. Visit the Caribbean Museum Centre for the Arts for some great exhibitions. Make sure you get to Louis and Nacho’s Beach Bar in time for sunset cocktails and then head to Ci Bo Ne restaurant, in pretty Limetree Courtyard, for dinner.
Charlotte Amalie, St Thomas
Wake up as the yacht cruises back across to St Thomas. Relax in the jacuzzi after breakfast before the yacht makes a stop at Water Island. Explore the island on golf carts or enjoy the water toys to full advantage – get out the jetskiis or try some waterskiing. Once docked back in Charlotte Amalie, adrenaline junkies should try ziplining above the town or maybe you would like to try your luck with some fishing. Head ashore for some last minute souvenirs before preparing for the final evening of your holiday. Your crew will organise a wonderful cocktail party and farewell dinner on board or, if you prefer, you could choose to venture to Oceana restaurant in the French quarter.
