The Rolex Swan Cup 2022
The Rolex Swan Cup is unlike any other regatta on the annual racing calendar. Every two years since 1980, both modern and classic fleets of Swan yachts gather together in Sardinia to give the yacht crews and guests a week of high drama and thrilling activity on the water and the land.
The sailing regatta was first sponsored by Rolex in 1984, marking the starting point of a successful and enduring partnership between Rolex, Nautor’s Swan and the Yacht Club Smeralda. Today, the racing fleet has only grown, now exceeding 100 yachts ranging from 11 to 35 metres in length.
Since its inception in 1966, and as the first sail yacht builder to create a yacht over 10 meters long using fibreglass, Nautor’s Swan has become a globally respected brand known for its innovation, attention to detail and elegance at its core.
This year’s sailing regatta will divide the competing yachts into various groupings, including the ClubSwan 36, ClubSwan 42, Swan 45 and ClubSwan 50 One Design classes – where the sailing yachts are identical, and the focus is solely on crew technical ability – and categories based on age, performance and size for those over 100 feet.
The competition is fierce, and the margins on the water are agonisingly tight, meaning there is nail-biting drama until the final race. That said, a varied and exciting social programme is planned throughout the week, including refreshments, a crew party, cocktail receptions, and an owners’ Dinner.
Entries for the Rolex Swan Cup 2022 will be open until the 31st of July.
