Sloop named best refitted yacht by Boat International
G2 has been named the BEST REFITTED YACHT at the Boat International World Superyacht Awards!
The judging panel commented that "the extent, quality and outcome of the 11-month refit was exemplary – and well worthy of a Neptune." YPI congratulates the Owners and the rebuild team, Pendennis Shipyard Ltd, Tripp Design Naval Architecture (exterior) and Nauta Design (interior).
Originally built by Vitters, G2's rebuild was one of the most detailed ever undertaken. The original owner’s requirement was for a fast yacht suited to long range cruising. Her new owners had a clear vision of their needs, with a circumnavigation in mind: similar in scope to the original but with enhanced interior light and clean modern design.
The aft cuddy cabin was removed, creating a flush open deck with sunbathing cushions. 40% of the old teak was replaced and the caulking changed to grey, and the main cockpit was extended into a larger guest dining area. Nauta's new light-filled interior features two large skylights cut into the deckhead of the main salon and 11 larger portlights in the guest cabins. The Owners' cabin was increased in size and its layout modified, a complex task which necessitated moving some structural bulkheads.
All machinery, systems, navigation and communication equipment were replaced, bringing forward the 10-year Class Special Survey. G2's hull, mast and deck structures were repainted.
