AXIOMA'S mid-ocean rescue for 16m sailing yacht
72m YPI charter yacht AXIOMA made a heroic mid-Atlantic rescue on 11th December when a passenger on a nearby 16m sailing yacht got into medical difficulties.
AXIOMA received a Pan-Pan emergency call from sailing yacht Mowe 2 at 0840 while positioned at 24°57’4N 38°40.7W, with reports of a passenger onboard suffering severe abdominal pain. The AXIOMA crew contacted the relevant medical authorities before gathering the onboard medical equipment in the main salon and sending the rescue boat to collect the casualty and bring him onboard.
Supported by Medaire, two of AXIOMA’s medically trained crew members provided first aid assistance. At the request of the Porto del Garda, AXIOMA then met medical ship Esperanza del Mar and transferred the patient onboard via rescue boat at 1630.
AXIOMA then continued her journey on to St Martin where she will begin a busy Caribbean winter charter season
