new tech tenders
Today’s tenders have come a long way since the start of the superyacht industry. Utilising the best in modern technology, these boats do far more than transporting guests to beaches and jetties. From transforming into land vehicles to expanding into beach clubs on the ocean, discover the potential of superyacht tenders in 2018.
Launched earlier this year, the multi-functional, sporty 9.2m, 42-knot Iguana Commuter combines luxury day cruising with exploring all-terrain exploration on land. A zero-emission engine and specially formulated ergonomically designed tracks ensure minimal impact on the environment. Iguana’s high-tech features as standard include GPS with deepfinder and autoguidance, underwater cameras and an integrated soundsystem, and a bespoke hull choice colour, with the Iguana Commuter additionally offering an adjustable hardtop and cabin.
Designed for speed
Today’s yacht tenders can reach astonishing speeds, thanks to innovative design and ultra-powerful engines. The fastest three are thought to be the Technohull Sea DNA 999 G5, topping 81 knots; the 78-knot SV Alpha, by Fort Lauderdale-based SV Yachts; and the LX600 by Wahoo Ribs, which can reach 65 knots.
Eco friendly performance
The Quadrofoil’s eye-catching design turns heads in every port. The world's first fully electric, environmentally friendly personal hydrofoiling watercraft uses a patented steering system, enabling simultaneous control of foils and motor. Equipped with a silent motor and zero emissions for cruising in environmentally fragile zones, the Q2 model seats two passengers. Only 12 km/h are needed to raise the Quadrofoil above the water’s surface, and it tops 40 knots.
The Goldfish 23 eFusion edition is thought to be the world’s fastest electric superyacht tender. A low centre of gravity and immersed cockpit ensure comfort even at the tender's top speed of 47 knots.
Ready to build at Tecnomar - The Italian Sea Group, the EVO 55 day boat is a slick and stylish day cruiser or weekender. It can be configured in a standard Open Version, or with a T-Top as an optional extra, and can be built with one or two cabins.
launch with style
It’s not only the tenders themselves that are leading the way in innovative design: launching a tender in 2018 is an innovation in itself. SEVEN SINS, for sale and charter with YPI, features a floodable tender garage: the beach club floor is removed and the transom door opens to allow the space to fill with water. The yacht’s tender drives in and guests disembark directly onto the deck via a side staircase.
