Buying a Yacht: The YPI Guide
Everything you need to know
The YPI guide to the best purchase you will ever make.
Questions to Ask
Part of the role of your YPI Broker is to build a relationship with you in order to be able to source the best potential yachts to suit your lifestyle. Your broker will learn as much as possible about how you want to spend your time onboard. Will your yacht be a home on the water? A private family retreat? Your passport to adventures in remote destinations? An on-ocean party venue? Will you charter out your yacht when you’re not onboard? The answers to these questions will determine whether you opt for a motor or sailing yacht, and give a broker an insight into the ideal size, shipyard, performance and style of yachts to show you.
Charter Before You Buy
Chartering yachts in various sizes and styles is your opportunity to explore the available options and find out which type of yacht is best for you, before committing to a purchase. The YPI Charter team have access to 4,000+ yachts for charter around the world and are experts in matching every charterer with the right yacht.
Yacht Shows are a useful introduction to the market, where the biggest shipyards display new launches and yachts for sale for clients and brokers to explore. During the show, your YPI Broker will arrange private tours on yachts hand-selected to suit your tastes, and accompany you onboard to provide insight and advice.
Once the purchase process is complete and you have started enjoying your yacht, most Owners appoint a yacht management company to ensure operations run smoothly behind the scenes. Yacht Management takes care of everything from compliance and certification to crew recruitment and refit work.
